The wood is then placed into a drying room, consistent with old world traditional European practices. *This process ensures that the wood will not open or expand, and guarantees stability. *Selected seasoned spruce top, naturally air dried (over 20 years). *Warm and round tone, playability, hand-feel and consistency will keep you motivated. *The Model 500 viola is a finely crafted handmade instrument executed by Silver Award winning luthiers of the Violin Society of America. This exquisite viola is made from naturally air-dried and aged tonewood, hand-applied oil varnish, and is lightly antiqued for the look and feel of a vintage instrument.
