NEW EDITIONFrench composer Jacques Féréol Mazas (1782-1849) is considered a prominent violinist, conductor and pedagogue.75 Études mélodiques et progressives pour le Violon d'une marche progressive et spéciale à chaque difficulté de l'instrument et formant un corps d'oubrage prope à l'éducation du Violoniste Op.36 is divided into three books or suites:1. Études spéciales (1 to 30)2. Études Brillantes (31 to 56)3. Études d'artistes (57 to 75)Our urtext edition is based on the 2e éd. considérablement augmentée (2nd ed. considerably increased) published in 1843 by the Bonn publishing house, N. Simrock edited by Aulagnier (Paris) currently preserved in the Bibliothèque nationale de France, département Musique, VM8 C-95 (1).In this volume the book 1 Études spéciales, which consists of 30 Etudes, has been produced, and very complicated decisions have been made by the editor about the musical text, since there are decrescendo that resemble accents, as well as ligatures that present inaccuracies that have been corrected without mentioning them. The musical indications have also been kept in the French language, except those that have been modernized in the course of time, thus trying to preserve the essence of the composer. The same applies to some arcade symbols that are no longer in use. The editor has marked in gray color possible solutions to spelling errors and has completed missing fingerings. In an attempt to get closer to Mazas' true intentions, the 1843 edition has been used as the only source, since a review of later editions, from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, leads us to believe that they were made from different sources. In addition, random philosophies of violinists have been incorporated over time, which have altered the musical content, moving away from the composer's purpose. Roisber Narvaez Verlag, always in search of veracity, and being insistent in the research and investigation of authenticity, presents this edition with a new improved order of distribution of measures and comfortable page turns, facilitating the reading of the Études for violin students.
